Welcome to the standards alignment project for North Dakota Agriculture in the classroom.  Agriculture in the Classroom efforts help K-12 teachers integrate agricultural information into the science, math, social studies, language arts and other classes they teach.  This allows teachers to teach academic curriculum standards using real life applications.

The purpose of this project was to identify the alignment of North Dakota academic curriculum standards with Food, Land, People (FLP) curriculum for grades K-8.   Project Food, Land and People has 55 Pre-K through 12th grade lessons that are a part of the nationally developed supplementary curriculum. The hands-on lessons are objective in content and promote the development of critical thinking skills so that students can better understand the interrelationships among the environment, agriculture and people of the world.

The purpose of this site is to assist teachers in identifying which FLP lessons address academic standards for math, science, social studies, and language arts.  There are two ways to access the lessons on this page.

  • Click on the area (Science, Math, Language Arts and Social Studies) to select the grade level K, 1, 2, (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8) and view the curriculum standards with the corresponding Food Land People lessons.

  • Click on FLP to view all of the Food Land People lessons, and the curriculum standards they meet.

Future plans for this project include alignment for grades K-2 and 6-8.
