Project Food, Land & People

Educator workshop fee waived if among first 100 to register

Educators: be among the first 100 to sign up for a Project Food, Land and People (FLP) workshop this summer and the $40 registration fee will be waived.

“Now more than ever, we need to educate teachers about the importance of agriculture so they can educate their students. We truly believe in the merits of the Food, Land and People program and would like to see as many teachers benefit from it as possible,” said NDFB Director of Special Programs Gail Scherweit. “That’s why we’re waiving the fee for the first 100.”

FLP has 55 Pre-K through 12th grade lessons that are a part of the nationally developed supplementary curriculum. The hands-on lessons are objective in content and promote the development of critical thinking skills so that students can better understand the interrelationships among the environment, agriculture and people of the world.

“This year we have two new workshop topics available for educators who want to attend again and experience more FLP,” Scherweit said.

Workshop participants receive the entire curriculum in CD format, plus North Dakota specific materials and information about available resources.

Classes this summer are as follows:
June 9-10 in Bismarck: Project FLP II – Land & Water Conservation Focus
August 12-13 in Minot: Project FLP II – Land & Water Conservation Focus
August 17-18  in Fargo: Project FLP II – Land & Water Conservation Focus
August 19-20  in Fargo: Project FLP III – Health/Nutrition & Conservation Science Focus
